Roads untaken ...

Recently wrote a poetry to bid a warm welcome.. which came just spontaneously .
No, not another abstract poem?
./restart :P

This ground is grey, with streaks of black
Running and criss-crossing, yet each remaining intact,
These roads that travellers use, will never ever change,
For the only way to change this life is but to stay the same.
Some have travelled these roads before, many a time I would say,
Others are still new to these roads, slowly but surely finding their way,
Others still go quickly by, trying very hard to forget,
The fact, the truth, and the denial that:- on this road there is no turning back.

It's not running away neither mean feat ,to many which it may seem ,
It's trying to keep youself away, not for you but to let not wither away someone else's realm.
Pretending to act like stone ,letting go things unheard ain't no fun ,but what if this is the only new road you find,
For some you should walk the same old crooked roads but its only you who know that now those are the roads left far behind.
Why deny I must ask, this simple truth that you already know?
Why hurt trying to deceive someone's eyes, when the complicated heart is in control?
Don’t try to run or hide, for it’ll come back to haunt you.
Neither do you try to forget, for the only person you cannot deceive – is you!

Pain, anger and guilt you will feel, for emotions are but part of life,
Because what is life without emotions, and what is happiness if you know not strife,
For your mind and heart are one – an entity single and divine,
Thus fault is your own blame alone, without any chance of rescind.
You might have done something wrong, but everyone deserves a second try,
It's one's duty to right the wrong that happened before, to stop someone living this damned lie,
To break free these bonds, that shackle us to the earth,
For only then can you fly, for the first time since your birth.

But if you fear what lies ahead, then you should stop wasting your time,
For the sands of life trickling away, will soon leave your ashes scattered behind,
Forgotten and forlorn without care, your memory will whither away and die,
Leaving you with nothing at all – because you chose to live a damned lie.
This is the way of the road, these grey stones which mark the way,
And though we all travel these roads, not all of us will eventually fly away,
Thus lead your life as you should – be brave and above all never forget:
Connected is one’s past to one’s present, and the future is in our hands .

Soon will u see a new refreshed menu with dishes imported from ma's corner .Till than place ur orde from the above .My mom is one of those intuitive cooks in the kitchen, never seen her following a recipe, she's awesum. Whereas I'm good for making only one dish at a time, she can coordinate the whole meal without getting remotely flustered. If you work with her in the kitchen, she'll continue to give you the same advice, over and over and over again, until it is clear to her that you have learned what she wants you to learn. Or perhaps it's just me that she needs to give the advice repeatedly to, since I'm a typical daughter :P.She is a GREAT COOK... I feel she has a feeling that I will not match up to her and so she is behind my life to learn proper cooking...Its fun to cook with her coz she tells me her stories, jokes, some secret recipes I do enjoy it very much...I know this will help me but at times you feel when the time will come i will but mom feels this is the time ...so go ahead with your teaching lessons mom, you rock :).

PS : here is the pasta recipe for you Kriti -
Ingredients -(assumin it will be 4 ppl to share :))
Pasta(Sphagetti )- 200 gms
Onions - 2
Carrot - 1
Tomato - 2
Green coriander (finely chopped)-2 tbsp
Beans (optional)
Minced garlic (optional)
1/2 med sliced Mushrooms (optional)
Oil - 2-3 tbsp
Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt - 1/2 tbsp
red chilli pwd -1/2 tbsp
coriander seeds -1/2 tbsp
Before i start with the recipe let me tell something about the same ,this recipe says “to taste” a lot. That means “the way you like it.” So you can put in a lot or a little. I use 2onions, bit of garlic, lil less of red chilly flakes, etc. It just depends on what you and the person you are cooking for likes! So here we go -

Cook pasta separately in boiling water (2 cups)for 4-6 min ,don't run away from kitchen to watch tv ,stir it two -three times in b/w so that it doesn' stick to the pan and you don't get a scoldin from mom :P .Chop the onions, carrot, beans, mushrooms ,coriander leaves and tomatoes. Heat the oil for 10-15 mins and when its hot fry onions and chopped vegetables. When onions turn brown and soft, add tomatoes alongwith the spices. This takes about 10-15 mins. When the vegetables are well cooked, taste it and see what you think -add more salt or pepper if you need to.Finally add cooked Pasta. Stir it for 2-3 minutes and its ready to serve :).(if u rein the kitchen u can go abt garnishin - grate some cheese ,put in the oven till the cheese melts and sprinkle coriander leaves and add onion rings .You can add loads of other things -really upto u :) )and yeah if it tuns out good don't forget to mention - soon will i register this one too for a ok tested cetificate ;) and if its not the case -kriti when did i blog about pasta ,which blog did you read :P

Dil Se Re

One of my friends called today and we talked long n in the end she hung up sayin that she had to go receive her cousin on airport flying from Udaipur (in the background i had dis song DIL SE RE being played )..so all of this just reminded me of the time when we had A R Rahman with us in the flight from Udaipur...still remember him fiddling with his laptop.I guess it was like the thing that I never ever thought would happen even in my wildest dreams, –meeting A R Rahman himself! Standing in front of him, I wanted to tell him so much, how much his music meant to me and all such stuff. But, as expected, I got tongue-tied. :) All I wanted was to catch a glimpse of the man whose music is just incomparable. That was more than more than enough. I really cannot explain what I felt at that moment, an adrenaline rush would be expressing it correctly.
A R Rahman has this way of making his way into one’s heart, mind, and soul. You don’t need to work to savour the moment, he savours it for you.His music was and is out of the world with recent hits from yuvraj and ghazni (i remember so many ppl in my gtalk list had the status msg readin tu muskura n guzarish lolz )Guzarish from ghazni is just mind-blowing !! I donno the difference between preludes\interludes or what instruments he used...but it just gets into you completely and u'll be dumb-strucked through the whole process .The reason we all become Rahman’s fans is different. The choice of favorites may be different, and the way we enjoy the songs might be different. But if it is one thing that unites all Rahman fans, is the passion for his music.Coming to my personal favorite its Dil se re .....A.R.Rahman was lucky to have been spotted by Mani. No other filmmaker could have done justice to this prodigious talent. Even in the very first scene, the background score was so pleasing....I just love the way he renders the words DIL SE RE. If the piece contained these three words alone and no other instrumentals or lyrics were added on, I’d still say it is one of the greatest compositions ever created. These 3 words i donno somehow have their own magic. Many people think of “I love you,” as the three words. I say, forget “I love you” its DIL SE RE :P.

Flickerin images

Like ne other psentisemite I went for a photo clicking spree around the campus which used to appear so funny to me a few days back but time flies and here I am contemplating .Nostalgia may be painful. Nevertheless, it is quite agonising when you realise that many of your memories are slowly, silently fading out. When you try to recollect various time-periods of your life, your are confronted with some faces floating around and some scenes blinking in and out of sight. You focus your attention on some of these scenes only to realise that they depict some random incidents that have occurred on some arbitrary occasions and are quite inconsequential. You have no justification as to why your memory chose to register these sequences so strongly while overlooking the actual major events. You might consciously force your memory to gather those moments that you feel are important and should be treasured. It will cough out a few flickering images and you have to carry out extensive extrapolation to make them coherent. But you begin to wonder how much of it is a genuine part of the memory and how much of it has been cobbled up just now using your imagination on how it should or could have been.
And then, you sigh and give up .... after all, soon you wont even remember that you were trying to hold onto those fading memories.....

long long ago ..time went by and is still running !

Waking up with a farewll dream today,
I asked the sage a question.
Isn’t it sad,
that after all the years we had,
Not many friendships and memories with
the departed we are able to preserve?

Deep in thought with brow furrowed,
a question in return asked he
How many among our own, have we?
Dodged it with some light talk,
joked some more about little things,
but the thought weighs heavily on my musings.

I do have a a lot of friends,
and an even greater number of acquaintances.
but out of all these people now and here,
how many of them hold me dear?

Helplessly track wisps of memories floating away into oblivion. Try to pull them back, only to find them burst into nothingness like shiny soap bubbles of a mirage.

$ Seen the face almost every other day for three years. Exchanged the hi's, the views, the enthusiastic discussions, food and assignments. Never said a good-bye, but never talked again. See the name in the gtalk-list everyday, but can't be bothered to message. Wonder whether you really knew the face and the name.

$ Ought to message a regular, but the fluctuating list manipulates you into sending the message to someone you rarely conversed with over the past two years. And its awkward, after the standard hi's and the protocol based "how are you? am fyn!" exchange, both fall silent. There is nothing to say to each other. The lives are completely different and completely out of touch with the other. The fact that these same lives were closely intertwined just a couple of years ago, holds no significance.

$ There are those whom u rarely meet and funny but true you end up having with them the longest of conversations over gtalk or phone.

While i am typing this, i am, in parallel, involved in two different but equally demanding chat conversations, one of which is an attempt at convincing a friend that he should infact go ahead and ask that girl (that he has been infatuated with, for many months , he was the one who was engaged in the chats i just mentioned and ya was equally in love with her blog which i found funny till yesterday when i was completely vetty for a change (was on a break from watchin movies n series)and was checking so many arbit blogs, reading comments ,checking replies to my comment and getting to his blog .(I usually don't care to read all the comments usually ,ya i am lazy and follow a very few blogs.)I was instantaneously hooked. The worst part is that I knew him in person ...So I spent a part of last night and all the time since I woke up today, reading a guy’s blog, who then I had thought of as just another guy i knew and ,never thought he would be into blogging .He's actually cool ,billion times cooler than i thought him to be.A few posts but nice posts... loved thy blog ....In the background i hear some1 sayin "I am so dumb " ,Oh yeah so correct,so dumb of me ,i missed so many opportunities i had to talk ;). I guess it’s all karma. Everything that goes around, comes around *sigh* (Wipe that smirk off your face ,nothin cooking). .Obviously, I’m not going to post his link here. Don’t even ask.

BTW... . sorry for the interruption, we now return.

$ Then, there are those kind of persons you meet daily, exchange jokes, talk the general topics and forget about as soon as you walk past them and sometimes wonder how little you all know about each other. Thus, making it certain that once you leave the place, none of them will ever feature in your memories and neither will you in theirs'. Yet another addition to the acquaintance links that will quickly wither away.

$ And finally, there are those that frequently appear in your mind. you recollect all the good times you had, perhaps the not so pleasant ones too. But you are amazed at how they don't exactly seem to remember most of it, making all those memories little imaginary moments of your own mind. you might still meet them regularly, but how can that matter?

tap tap, shake, wake up ,Okies reader,we are coming to the ending now, time to return back from your wandering thoughts if u went for that ,or from ur dreamz if u dozed off :P to post your customary comment ;)

Helluva ride !

We’ve been together for ages now. I can’t even remember the first time we met. They’ve been very nice to me as I try to be to them. I’ve been late for our meetings once in a while and of late, I’ve been leaving before our time is up, but I hope they understand.
Of course, we’ve had our share of tiffs and misunderstandings but we always make up (sometimes their close relatives, ‘the results’ help, and sometimes they don’t). After all, I can’t do without them, can I? (still guessing 'we '-its me n exams :P)
They’ve been extra-nice to me since the past three and a half years. I guess they wanted to make up for that one big misunderstanding we had) Obviously, it’s all forgiven and forgotten now), or maybe it’s because of the greater numbers of ‘Best of Lucks’ that I get.
I just realized that yesterday’s date will determine if we continue to see each other, in the near future. I, for one, would like to do so. Hope they do too.

Wow !!!!

This was d pic mailed to me by a friend of mine who happened to visit a beach today and has passion for photography .This awesome pic left me breathless and i was just left with wooooooooooooow .
It took me to the beach – gazing out into the horizon while admiring the beauty of the swirling clouds. Staring out into the sea strengthens my hope because it is endless and it will reinstate the faith I placed within my being and the goals that I have in mind.At the end of day it just gives more hope and faith :)

when goin gets tough ....

Today I was feeling a bit gloomy since evening . ..No particular reason,(screwed my sapm test ..naah tat wasnt probably the ryt one behind )..probably just one of those days where you just don't feel good about yourself...Anyways, life doesn't really give u a choice so I went around my busy day doing things putting my mood on a backburner.Went to c'not , had a cup of coffee, ate maggie ,discussed a few issues , did some room cleanin ....A friend called, I asked him to call later, in no mood to talk apparently....went to dinner and then decided to watch the movie "Fashion" with my friend ...this movie I heard was a one time watch but still everybody has been watching it around recently so thought of givin it a shot ...Now my friend called back and was in a mood for a philosophical discussion we talked about the movie and now finally here I am blogging with the background muzik " marjaawan ...the fashp track" from the movie .

Well , cumin to the summarized discussion we had when both of us are on the verge of entering the new world, the proffesional world pretty soon , for me its gonna be january when my practice school statrts ....Well the movie in one line says ,"character is something you build through-out life and strength is something you acquire from within while building character". This realization has become more and more relevant and obvious to me as i recall certain things in my life n that of others . Its the tough decisions one needs to make in life that take a lot of personal strength and conviction. A situation would not be tough I guess if it did not demand an extraordinary amount of thinking, decision making and then sticking with it against all odds and literally the whole world! But doing just that is what makes you a stronger person... ryt
In professional life this would be almost a routine scenario - something important comes up and viola most people start worrying. Perhaps,The reason why worry kills more people than work is that more people worry than work....With the work of course comes your strategic reasoning, ability to rationalize, personal vested interest and a whole lot of politics .....But this is also where the hammer meets the hot iron if you will. You feel cornered to take the path of least resistance, or the past of highest long-term or short-term personal benefit forgetting about almost everything and everyone else like the movie ! The mark of a true leader (at least one I would look up to) is who
comes up with the answer to what is the right thing to do in his interests not forgetting others around !!! Executives who come up with popular decisions are a dime a dozen, who cares about them! Yes they will make a lot of money but they will also lose friends, loyalists, respect and their own selves as they continue to grow in the very rampant corporate model.

A really passionate proffesional should be able to make tough decisions without screwing someone. The first time you make a decision that works for everyone but screws up one person in your team; you are doomed you are going down the wrong path and every decision after that you will find it easier to screw others in making the most for yourself. So keep it human! y not be rational, reasonable, sensitive and less selfish if not selfless! and if u continue in the lead u definitely would be confronted with the ....."Boy I should have resisted my urge!"

Another thing which movie hints to is that "Often expectation fails, and most often where most it promises; and often it hits where hope is coldest; and despair most sits."Generally speaking we are all told not to expect. Not having expectations or lowering them certainly makes it easier to be content and happy but is that
really practical? Not expecting anything in return for acts like passing on your notes or accompanyin your friend when hez alone is plausible. However, not having any expectations from people that I love or cherish is something totally impossible for me . Though there are a very few on that list as is the case with everyone .Of course we all have heard that true love is unconditional. On a high level, our parents do love us throughout life unconditionally (luv ya ma papa)but even the best parents do have expectations. I think it comes naturally to our race to expect. The measure of expectations might vary from little to great .Hmm , now I have to go figure out yet the answer to my question: To expect or not to expect? .......
"soche dil ke aisa kash ho
jaise khwaab hai aankhon mein base meri
waise neendo pe silvate pade meri......."
with this note time to come back from never neverland of thoughts .....

About the movie , yeah u can watch it once if u have 2 -3 hours to while away ...

Why do we ...

Why do we constantly keep telling ourselves not to be judgmental. Would it be easier to just convince ourselves that we are indeed judgmental hypocrites and that there's nothing we can do about it?

Why do we ignore the people who don't care about us, because we know there are people who care .....

Why do we waste our time on those who don't waste theirs on us .....

Why are we always right and everyone else is always wrong. But once in a while, we wake up in the middle of the night and go, "Oh crap. What if this time I am wrong?"(like i did yesterday , having a sleepless night )

Why do force ourselves to bitch to fit in... what if we have nothing to bitch about?

Why do we freak out if something is too good to be true. But what if it is indeed true....

Why are we often stopped by a sudden instinct just when we're about to say something. If we still say it, we're screwed. If we don't say it, we are still screwed.

Why do we all reach a point in our life where we go "What the heck?". But not many of us do something about it.

Why do we say we're fine in our comfort zone. But if the comfort zone is so comfortable, why are we so restless?

Why are we always in search for something better , what if we already have the best ...
Why don't we quit when we should.

We think too much about the things listed above. But sometimes we don't think enough

Something Cooking :P

Recently we had silent moments together .... it was just me n him together all alone
and it was getting all difficult for me to resist the temptation .At first glance itself he took my breath away .Honestly ... awesome, decadent, indulgent, amazing!!!!
Oh my god hold your imagination and stop cooking stories .It was me with my cake in the mess .I was really elated for it turned out so well ,ehh am a gud cook .I was baking this cake in the mess for my friend's birthday and it was then i started wondering about food , what better can u think of in mess :P

Food ummm is

...an everyday routine.

...the necessity of life.

...a good riddance (nice escape to say goodbye- hey gotto go for lunch/dinner )

...the only thing I look forward to on certain days.

...an annoying interruption in the middle of a busy day.

...comes as a respite in the middle of a busy day.

...an ice-breaker.

...full of variety .

...an avenue to be yourself.

...a great avenue for bonding and knowing .

...makes you wonder.

...adds to you identity.(oh this dish is ms x's fav , oh she cooks this dish wonderfully)

...a source to fetch u praises. (provided u r a good cook )

...a tool to avoid awkward silences..

...a nuisance when you have no one to have it with.

...at times expensive and totally not worth it.

...a factor that contributes greatly to the "It's lonely at the top" concept.

...a great way to get creative .

...a great source of delight, especially when u succeed in cooking .

...adds flavor to life .

...yuck.

...yummy.

...yummiest when ma makes it.

PS : Soon will u get to see d cake.....

An inconvenient truth

once-in-a-lifetime opportunity knocked at my door .....

a dream so vivid , infact a prophetic dream .....

skewed perception

staisfaction

contentment leading me away from perfection ......

perfect time does not exist .....

involuntary submission of my mind to satisfying pleasures of job i had deceiving me from the universal truth that -" it's Google, the Angelina Jolie of tech employers"

I wrote the aptitude test in a very disinterested manner and was busy yesterday night watching movies :D , slept at 3:30 am n got a call at 8 saying u have interview within 15 minutes so rush .......

Had the interview and after the interview I felt horrible. I knew I wasn't going to get an offer. Churning in my mind was what went wrong?. Somewhere deep down i knew and the feeling of dejection was sinking in . I suspect that the guy had a negative inclination about me the moment the interview started. It's just pure speculation. I have no way of knowing........

Donno why but all of a sudden i recalled Shawshank Redemption - Hope is a good thing, may be the best of the things. And no good thing ever dies ...when i was called upon for the second round of interview ....

About the interviews i realized that they do not care about who you are and what you are good at. They care about who they are and how good you are in what they do. They probably do not even try hard to figure out how easily/rapidly you could evolve to the particular skillset they are looking for. At least, this is what I have learnt from interviewing with them.
I have heard how wonderful it is to work at Google, but also how hard it is to get in.Maybe I truly don't have the brain power Google is looking for. Maybe I truly am NOT a good fit for what Google is looking for.
An Inconvenient truth but then we all take chances...and if every chance we took guaranteed success....well, that would just spoil the fun of taking a chance.

Wanna Commit ?

First of all disclaimers : This post is written just for fun and is not there to hurt anyone's sensitivites. Neither does it says anything about my current status - Commited/ Single and ready to mingle/ single but not interested. So please do not make any assumptions n deductions. Just total tp.... considering its just 12:30 am and its a bit too early to sleep ...... so just writing all crap which is going around in my mind.

A weird kinda ambience is all around ....people saying kash meri bhi gf hoti , tips dede to get a gf ....ya bf hota toh kaisa hota .... Most of the friends have been talking of similar stuff- 'the kind of partner they want'.... Donno all of a sudden why everybody is luking for a partner... i was a bit confused about this new trend..... thought it was a long time since 'i love u' virus striked....... but after some brain( yeah i bet tht i hv one) storming i realised that its psenti sem n so people looking for a psenti :P
First let me start with my hostel- a home away from home. Coming to the point, there are 24 people on my floor, consisting both psenti-semites n nonpsentisemiites. n around 10-12 of them have that 'special' friend, or at least pretend to have one...:). so i decided to ponder upon d lifestyle of these 'experienced' people n analyse the pros n cons of having a girlfriend/boyfriend. This wud give me an idea whether i need a boyfriend now or should i wait for sum more time

coming to the pros of being committed-

- u get someone with whom u can talk. yeah if he is not from Bits Pilani this is probably the only way u can remain in touch with him. This place provides u with such varied kind of experiences tht u always would like to share. There are moments when u need someone someone to talk to..... sometimes when u screw up the tests or tuts or quizzes( that does happen a lot), lots of night outs when u wud love to call him in morning at 6am before catching up the 2 hr sleep before the class, talking about the crap which some of the profs throw at us , may be treats or lacha sessions we have, n those different kinda experiences which any girl would have experienced in a Girl's hostel ... n its not only about sharing ur experiences..... u also come to know whats going on in the world outside the campus.... n if he is from Jaipur, i cud get all the news regarding the events going on in 'aapno' Jaipur. i do have my set of close friends with whom i share most of my stuff, but sometimes i have to think twice before calling them up- reasons being they being busy during the day at there college , its my psenti sem not theirs( though 3 years stint at college have taught me that some of them can only be busy during the canteen session.) .... at those moments u like to have a friend whom u can ping n disturb at any moment n who would be ready to listen to all crap n arbit chattel u r going to throw at him.

- one of my friend's boyfriend sends lots of chocolates and cakes every 15 days-now this is a real big advantage as well as incentive of having a boyfriend. Imagine someone sending u a lot of gud stuff to eat after every few days..... u get a chance to forget the crap u r forced to eat in the mess.... this is a real big big advantage i m looking forward to :P

- the personality changes n esp when it comes to guys they become a bit more responsible person, at least try to become one .Real lazy n laid-back kind of guys.... those who don't like to take bath before 2 days n don't shave regularly.... start feeling obliged when someone cares for them...so when she asks whether they had dinner properly, it wud be difficult to lie n say that the food was gud. difficult not to execute the 'room-cleaning operation' which have been pending for a couple of months usually.... a person starts to become mature in the way he talks, he dresses, he carries himself n all other similar stuff.

One of my floormate's boyfriend acts as a morning alarm for her.... yeah he religiously calls her up every morning half an hour before the class waking her up n motivating her to go to class.... another incentive for me as i have started to miss classes more regularly.... not a bad way to be woken up..... better to have someone's mellifluous voice acting as a morning alarm than to hear that cacophonous alarm of that alarm clock which i want to crush everyday while getting up.

Den yeah your acads rock once u get committed , u r not far from making a 10 :D

coming to the cons, i can see a long list of them too

- first of all the inflated phone bills... most of these guys get a phone bill of around 4K per month... a huge amount.... i may be offered 'premium membership' by airtel guys, but who'll pay the bills ..... and if at all my dad gets to know all this he wud say "beta pack ur bags and come back home , marriage would be a cheaper alternative :P"

- then all those rona-dhona n getting senti- now i m a fun loving n chillax kinda gal who gets well with everybody.... a bit emotional sometimes but certainly not that kinda person who can 'bear' with all those 'mushy-mushy' tantrums all the time....being very frank about it.. n wud be really difficult for me to say -'u r really intelligent' when he takes a stupid decision or for that matter praise his latest crazy t-shirt ....

- time , there is one thing that is really at premium at BITS n that is time.... whenever u get some free time, it is probably better to have a nap than talking endlessly with someone on the other end. if i m going talk to him for an hour everyday, he may say 'BITS ki seat kyun kharab kar rahi ho, useless gurl just spending time on phone' n if i did not talk for that one hour specified limit then he wud say ' what careless gurl i have choosen... moron cant find sometime for me ...alas.... bhaav kha rahi hai'

Variable costs go up - gifting stuff, chocolates, dresses- a big headache for guys ngals i guess. N then wishing on a number of days is really painful. Last semester one of my wingies had a fight with her boyfriend over phone. the reason came out was that the guy had forgotten her to wish 'Happy Rose Day'.... now i really felt pity for that guy... he had 2 painful assignments to submit the next day... he did not remember whether he had his dinner, so how was he expected to remember the Rose Day.... n then more n more new concepts r flooding the market apart from the traditional ones - Valentine's Day, Friendship day... the days r not really far off when we wud be having 'Father -In-Law Day' n 'Pet-in-law' days.... donno what will happen then.

i m really confused now... kahtein hain - 'this is kinda ladoo.... jo naa khaaye woh lalchayee n jo kha le woh pachtayee' :p. but its really fun for us when we observe n tease those guys regarding their relationships :)

Perfect timepass !!

me :Hey m bored ....do something
He :okies sawal hamare jawaab aapke khelte hein
me : kya ?
He : arre seedhi sadhi bhasha mein bole toh tag :D
me :hmm k shoot n no boring questions plz :P
He : arre sab kuch tumhare answers pe hai yahan ;)
me :waah ! k chalo

1. What is your current desktop picture ?

Ab desktop pictures mein aap kya dekhenge - sunsets , palaces , gardens , monuments , waterfalls etc etc . Waise right now I see my dad smiling at me on the desktop . Hi Papa .

2. Do you believe in gay marriage ?

Huh ? Oye gay marriage hain , koi UFO thode hi hain jo pooch rahe ho "Do you believe ?". I believe a marriage is a union of two minds , who then commit to tread the path of life together , facing all adversity and celebrating all joys together , and helping each other grow in the process . Gay or otherwise , the essence of a marriage is unaffected by such trivial issues . Subhan allah , ekdum miss world waala answer diya na :P

3. What do you want more than anything right now ?

Watch Gone with the wind....Novel bahut badi hai n aajkal badhti hui umra k saath patience n nazrein kam hoti ja rahin hain :P

4 . What time were you born ?

On a mildly cool night that fateful day in February, I was delivered into this world , with no indication of the fact that I was to grow up to become the wonderful and charming young woman I am today . Within seconds of my being born , a pretty nurse with big eyes wrapped me into a soft white blanket . As she was turning back to get something else , I suddenly gripped her finger with my tiny palm , pulled her towards me and squeaked in my newly discovered voice - "Aunty , time kya hua hain ?."

You actually think all this happened ? Nahin na . So how am I expected to know what time it was when I was born ?

5. Are your parents still together ?

Oye ! Mr America , humare India mein parents remain together . They are very much together and have no dangerous plans . Shaadi mein fevicol khaayi thi ma papa ne , mazboot jod hain , tootega nahi.

6. Last person who made you cry ?

Me . I believe no one else can make me cry . Tears arise out of what I do with the thoughts in my head . ( Kaafi profound hain yeh jawaab , samajh na aaye toh koi nahin )

7. What is your favorite perfume/deo ?

Yaar main koi Page 3-socialite-fashion designer types hoon jo itna perfume conscious hongi ? Apna chal jata hai eva se .Vaise evening in paris sounds nice bolne mein ...

8. What kind of hair/eye color do you like in the opposite sex ?

Am a very adjusting and easy going person toh chalega kuch bhi , its jus it wud be totally uncool to have someone without one :P

9. What are you listening to ?

the wing's gossip with the background music -dil chahta hai

10. Do you like pain killers ?

Like ? What's there to like or dislike in a pain killer ? If there is pain , I take the pill . You don't expect me to 'like' pain killers and yell "Maaaa ! Aaaj lunch mein aloo ke paranthe aur pain killers bana do ! Bahut din ho gaye accha khaana khaye hue !."

11. Are you too shy to ask someone out ?

Nahin Nahin n esp jab m bored n want a company . Aata kya Gone with the wind dekhne ? Ab bolna toh "aata kya khandaala' chahti thi , but abhi khandaala jaane ka mood nahin hai yaar.

12 . If you could eat anything right now , what would it be ?

The guy who's asking so many questions in this tag . With some tomato ketchup.

13. Who was the last person you made mad ?

Ma. I do that with alarming frequency.

14. Is anyone in love with you ?

Gentleman , this question is for you. Aaju baaju mat dekh , baat dil ki bol daal.

May be i'm jus confused !!

I’m too bored. It’s not that I don’t have anything to do. It’s just that I seem to have no interest in doing anything. These days, I can’t do one thing for any period of time longer than 15 minutes.I start flipping through the pages of the newspaper and then throw it away ,so that I can google something , give up again . I turn on a movie and then pause it, so that I can read somebody’s blog for sometime. Then, I stop doing that so that I can chat with a friend. Then i fumble through some pages of Shantaram (currently reading ) and , I suddenly feel like blogging myself. I keep arguing with myself on whether or not it makes sense to post something for the whole world to see and whether or not it is any good, until I give up and unpause the movie only to restart the whole cycle after a while.I guess i need to consult Dr Greg house ;) .I alternately feel lonely and crowded (can you suggest another word?). Sometimes I wonder if I’m supposed to be somewhere else, like in a different universe. Sometimes I wonder what race it is, that I’m running. Why I’m in it. What I’m running away from and running towards. Maybe, this is what they call existential angst. Maybe, I just need to call up someone . Will go do that now. Blogging really helps :D

~ToPsY TuRvY ~ TizZy TazZy Journey

So how was the whole journey is d question which comes my way almost everyday , well i think it's been one of d interesting journeys i have fared through which had almost every element of life wrapped in .
17th August , people wished loads of luck :) for d new start ahead

18th August ,D day came , Deshaw D Dream company of many (mine was always oracle , u know how much i believe in realistic n achievable targets :D ) , Prezo began n we were introduced to d team , n i was jus telling my frn nearby , he seems so strict he can screw in interview , he has assuring luks n blah blah as if i was goin to get shortlisted .Presentation was over n den came d time for d aptitude test the first stop of d long journey ,It went, as I recall, very cordially, but it was clear to me that I was out of my league, I splooshed d quant section , computer skills went k , program was easy i guess everybody solved dat question ryt , yeah i was very satisfied wid d essay writing :D .As i was walkin out of d examination hall , i was lost thinking over n over about d quant section , man i jus attempted some 60-70% ......
Mom called jus then n i told her mom i spoiled it all, things did not go as I
thought they would n she told tat thr r loads of more opportunities to come so cheer up :) and take a cue from what went wrong here. Someone in wing came n said hmm so when r d results cumin , i said its gonna make no difference here so m goin to sleep for i carried no EXPECTATIONS . I was jus abt to hit d bed n thr was a big bang on d door , u r through , congrats congrats congrats ......am i dreamin w/o hitting d bed :O . Some 18 ppl shortlisted and all were just brilliant , donno how i landed in that group .... Called my dad then n told i am really nervous and donno how to go about d interview , he said just be confident and go give ur best .After hanging d fone i realized tat i had another aptitude test to write "Microsoft " , now what , d time was clashin wid my interview , so i called the placement coordiantor n hesaid no need to panic , it 'll be delayed accordingly and was scheduled at some 9:45 .I always wanted a mock interview experience before my dream oracle interview , didnt knew God wud be gracious to give me d first day first show ticket to d interview :P .So i wrote d microsoft test , it was better n cuter than deshaw's so i was happy about it .
It was only an hour later, when I was sitting in my room , that I realized I was feeling a little off and decided, on a whim, to check my pulse, which was 108. Ha ha! I still remember feeling a wee bit overly stimulated. I was a bit exhausted and the time came to get dressed in business casuals ,getting dressed was d best part of d day :P .So i was all set , talked to mom n dad n left .Finally i reached the venue for d inteview ,I had to wait in a side room with the rest of the hopefuls ,nervousness was mounting. I repeatedly asked why I was voluntarily submitting myself to this type of agony... do I get some kind of cheap thrill out of it? I dunno - before I had figured out the answer, I was called in.
Strange but as i was walkin in there was a magic spell and i very confidently walked in , greeted the panel n introduced myself .It started with the normal hr stuff , about u , y shud we hire u , plans for ms n y deshaw ( but obv ans cool pay n job-profile ;) ) I rattled on and on and on and on and on about just about everything they asked ds , loads of c stuff , dbs n yeah plcc too where i was a bit struck but still blabbered a wrong answer without any sign of hesitation , u know this is what confidence is all about :P. I was entirely focussed, answering each question with a minimum of pauses and a maximum of information. Finally after many questions, some predictable and some not, I was shown out at 12:15 am aah a relif. My rather slim file of certificates wasn't even glanced at. Shame, I was looking forward to boasting that I had won the dance competition in class 5 :P

The results were to be announced next day afternoon , well i didnt had much of expectation because it is usually accompanied by anticipation and often followed by disappointment. It leaves you with a ‘what now’ taste in your mouth. Sometimes expectations are the result of how we want the world and people to be our little girl/boy inner child fantasy.
Now came the results and the deserving 5 got d offer n i accepted my first rejection in a very sporting manner , sometimes we have played out the scenario in our heads,we already know the outcome and start planning our acceptance speech. Microsoft results were out n i wasnt shortlisted n at dis point of time there was a bit of sadness in my eyes....It was all ok after a few hours of talkin wid friends n mom-dad n i said "deshaw hmm i 'll make it to deshaw for sure after job hops , i will " hahaha how kiddish of me tat was to help myself find solace:)
In the evening it was amazon , wherein again i did a silly mistake in writing one of d codes i knew well , its just that sometimes timming is wrong or what u call destiny which comes into play ....
Next day it was yahoo n netapp ...... expectations rarely go anywhere without their sidekick assumptions. Wrote d yahoo apti n once again it was me telling ppl " yes m not thru " if this is wat u wanna hear ,we assume we know people how they will react what they will do in given situations and then we walk ahead with a pocketful of expectations based on those assumptions. I don’t think it is realistic to believe you can travel without having an expectation or two. But yeah maybe we can leave the assumptions behind on the next trip and see what develops so i went ahead n attended the presentation of netapp wherein i was thr physically but not mentally for the going was getting difficult.... So finally i wrote d test n getting through this company was absolutely a dream , so this time i didnt expect much , n when in d nite i came to knew i was shortlisted , i recalled d song -breaking the habit's line " i dont want to be the one the battles always choose coz inside i realize ...."Well now this company was to question about networking which gives me cold feet , n i had one nite , i told myself , had enough wanna make these things stop(all rise lyrics :P) , n i had miles to go before i sleep ,God i never studied this amount of compnet ....

The morning came n d interview began at 7:30 , i had a nice start , it started with an algorithm ,I wrote the simplest, naive code that I could think of. I immediately saw some inefficiencies and worked to address them. The guy prodded me slightly to the answer he was looking for (I would have gotten there). He gave me two more coding problems . K done , So neha lets play with linked lists now (God i never did so much coding at a stretch , gimme a break now :P). Thankfully it was 9 n i had to go write d cisco aptitude test n d coding came to halt finally , yaye ...

After cico thingie ,second round began , this time it was with the hiring manage who seemed a bit strict but was nice .We talked for 45 minutes without a hint of coding (a relief). This was a wide-ranging discussion about everything starting from myself , my background (i love talking about myself so i went on n on ) .Then it was time to prove my innovative side so i went about discussing my project ideas ,n we somehow went about discussing the impact of Yahoo, comparison to Google, and finally culture at Netapp. I gained a lot of insight and appreciation for what they’re doing. At one point he started talking salaries and benefits, and I got extremely excited and I had to fight to keep a smile off my face (hey, I don’t want to look like a dork too early). Finally he gave me a chance to ask questions , this is one moment which is yours in an interview :D so in went about asking some stuff n it came to an end

It was time for the 3rd round ,this guy asked a lot about my projects , moulded the situations i took into account , fired me with loads n loads of os stuff n finally came to dbs , asked to write queries , indexing , normalization , blah blah blah ... thank god i was fluent wid dbs and answered his questions satisfactorily . Finally, jokingly, almost reluctantly, he said he may be obligated to give me some coding problem, so let’s do them quickly.
"U like trees ?" we'll code for trees now , again he made me code n code n code . Finally came to some infix expression tree , took me to stacks , queues n finally finally finally told k neha nice meeting u ( oh n it was so not nice meeting u :P )

Between every interview they will talk to each other and they will send e-mails to the other people in the interview loop. Yes, they’re talking about you behind your back. And yes, they will tailor future questions to cover areas missed by previous interviewers, or to follow up on a weakness , wherever u go the network follows ...

Next round was again with the hiring manager , it was a nice chit chat , he enquired about jaipur n about my hobbies n asked me to justify y should netapp hire me , n i was able to impress d manager . if it was only d hiring manager to take d decision i knew offer was in my hands but then there were more rounds to go ...

This time it was networking which went fairly well , as again there was some ds involved (courtesy graphs) which served as my savior n yeah the night-out helped me stand this round and they asked me to attend the net prog classes if possible , I thought i would be told to leave but as i told u their network follows n i was questioned on plcc n aco n finally came my turn again to question . I was just asking about some salary stuff n this guy again stole my opportunity n took over, asking me about bonds n stocks , what's inflation , what's sensex n blah ...hello it was my turn :( .I told him some crap n told i have not been attending the security and portfolio management classes the elective my resume read ...so i m not proficient in this field .

Now it was the finale , i was introduced to the hr guy .He was cool , discussed my school life , college life , asked was i satisfied with the compensation n i told no issues with the salary , its decent .He then told one thing before i give u the opportunity to question , do you drink ? netapp has a culture of booze party every friday .... I told ,I am pretty sure there would be many like me in netapp who dont drink :) n he smiled saying yeah i'll be there to accompany you .Finally making the statement so tired n bored at the end ... told him no it was an interesting interview which stimulated my grey cells n we both smiled in unison :) .Finally i had my question set answered n i took leave .
The whole thing is very hush-hush as nothing can be "official" until the results are known and every moment till the result leaves more n more restless !

My mom's prayers were answered and i got the news that i have been made an offer :) :) :)

yayi i got the job finally ,n this time it was N for Netapp for N for Neha

It is easy to get hung up on expectations or to get defensive, angry and disappointed when they are not met. Expectations at times suck. But in this whole process I learnt to -

"Expect to have expectations".

Losing track or losing faith?

There are few lines which touch your soul right when you hear them for the first time... Some songs, some comments or even a line of a song... There was a time when i used to love this particular song... "Rhythm Divine" by Enrique (Not that i dont like it now, but the appeal it had has somewhat diminished as the hope is giving way to the submissiveness...). In this song, there is a line where he in the most appealing way, says...

"No one can stop us from having it all..."

And this was the line i loved... Not for the actual meaning it had in the song, but for the hope it gave me for what i had in my mind... in a way, it made me feel as if i was on the right path... Today i listened to the same song for some 2 hrs was lazy enuff to change the song i guess ... And suddenly realised that i was listening it because of it's rhythm and not because of what it meant... And a thought struck me...

"No one can stop us from having it all..." oh yeah, and what all do i want exactly?

just passing by

Recently I was being interviewed (no tech interview )and came an interesting question ,what are the small (gr8) things in ur life?
I closed my eyes and here's the exotic view ......

1. Long drives - Its stuff dreams are made of. A long good stretch of road, good music playing and funk weather. It is a guaranteed chill out plan. ( Late night on wet roads rocks and stop for coffee…agree?)

2. Reading - By myself, next to the window, with a nice cup of coffee on a rainy evening…I am completely at peace, its quality time spent with oneself and just refreshing!

3. Talking to ma, papa, sis, bro and the junta we call friends - Because I think I am addicted to advices and need conversation to thrive. It is important to be connected, to catch up, to hear voices, if I can’t be around physically. It is just a ritual that warms my heart. Even if I have a problem, I might not discuss it directly, but just having a general conversation with someone I love makes me feel better .

4. Sudoku - I judge you if you haven’t tried it. Even more if you don’t like it….just kidding! But seriously, DO IT, already.

5. Taking off - Travel is what keeps some of us sane. Who doesn’t need a break from this big bad bizee city life? I surely do.

6. Home parties - Fine. Go ahead, say I am getting old. A friend who’s really fond of going out said “partying and ‘at home’ don’t go together. What do you do? . I don’t know why partying at home conjures up images of people sitting and hogging ! I love having friends over, its super fun, there is singing, and debating and joking, watching movies, and sometimes falling asleep right there ( guilty as charged). Its more intimiate, there is less noise, you can lie down all evening on the rug if you please ( and admire my pretty paper lamps), you can wear shorts and come, and hell, its way cheaper :P

7. Lazy Sundays - When you wake up only when you damn well feel like it, have a lazy brunch at home or elsewhere, catch a movie or just vegetate in front of the telly all day long…and if someone is around, even better!

8. Cadbury's Dairy milk , a family pack would do :D. Thanks in advance. We love you too ;)

10. The innocent smile of cuteee kids which can turn on your dampened spirits.....

hmm something missing ? ;)

Labyrinth of desires....

One's desires in this world are endless, and so seems the world ,"endless". As a desire is fulfilled, another is ready to occupy the vacant state. This is a constant part of life, of consciousness and knowing this, one must choose to be happy in the face of one's desires.

this desire/fulfilment/desire is the constant pulsation of universe, that corresponds with the drawing in and pushing out of the breath.............

is it not???

Virtual Realities !!

We live in a make believe world and work tirelessly to devise new means to facilitate willing suspension of disbelief.

The statement above reeks of complete disdain for everything imaginary. It has a sense of longing for the tangible, a want for the absolute. It hides a fear of getting lost in the mysterious world of unknown images because it is not sure of its own connections with reality, its relationship with its surroundings. I either am or I am not. I either have it or I don’t. I will NOT make myself believe otherwise.

I read an engrossing work of fiction and start imagining myself as the protagonist – one who is wronged and one who now seeks revenge. I give way to my repressed desires of fighting everything evil in my life by juxtaposing the story of the novel in my hand with the screenplay of the drama that is unfolding in my life even as I read along. While busy achieving existential salvation through literary discourse, I tend to conveniently forget that somewhere someone is busy plotting a similar storyline that revolves around that person and me – just that this time, roles have
been reversed, and perspectives have been altered; Voodoo magic?
Occult science? Maybe! Maybe not!!

Make Believe is street magic. Your rational mind eggs you with your every breath to refute the claim that it is for real, for you know that down below, at some incomprehensible level, this is all but a fancy trick performed with the immaculate
perfection of a seasoned professional, live, and in front of a clueless audience. And yet, every physical law that governs this universe, every law that you have ever come to comprehend over time and with experience, urges you to believe, with
axiomatic justification, that what has been demonstrated before you in that indescribable moment in time is nothing but the
truth – absolute and whole!!

Perhaps, what my mind, body and soul seeks in unison and with single-minded obsession is that point in space-time continuum where magic and reality blend seamlessly into an inseparable whole and begin to co-exist; where the all-comprehending rational
faculty of the incomprehensible human mind breaks down and pure reason gives way to unconditional faith and unquestionable belief. It is the confluence of the believable and the unbelievable where believers voluntarily turn into non-believers, and vice versa, with an effortless swish of the invisible magical wand. It is that focal point of the universe where boundaries of reality are fudged, logic becomes fuzzy and you fail to distinguish The Real from The Imaginary.

That, to me, is Make Believe. And that, I believe, is where the world is headed, increasingly!!

signing off
neha !!!!!

Rajasthan n riots !!!

Go here go there u find urself engaged in the discussion about the infamous Gujjar Riots. Gujjar is a community in Rajasthan that is demanding ST status to increase the ambit of reservations available to their class. The government, obviously not okay with the demands, (as its basically vasundhara raje's vow proving out to be frankenstein's monster for her now )is resisting the pressure that the Gujjar’s are now trying to create by initiating a spate of unprecedented riots in the state. In the fray are big Rajasthan MPs and MLAs including hotshots like Nathu Singh Gujjar. It’s easy for our vote-athirst politicians to trigger off rows regarding reservations. Following in their footsteps, it’s even easier for a certain segment of people (who dont even know what is the basic idea behind reservations) to get together and create a havoc to attract media attention and to get their baseless demands fulfilled. Now I’m not here to bash the changing role of the media in today’s India, cause that topic will take the post in altogether different direction .My concern is all about the physical and mental traumas that we,the aam-junta, are made to go through during these times of crisis esp coz of the transportation breakdown !!!

Anyone with a speck of alertness is aware of the whole ordeal that Rajasthan is going through .People and government alike shud show better cooperation and at least ensure that normal life isn’t affected due to trivial tiffs and disagreements. Its not pretty, its not convenient, and it almost definitely violates the rules of staying together in a harmonious society.

Hail the politicians.
Hail the ‘intelligentsia’ who prompt such riots.
life cant be fairer i guess :x

A quick equation to decision making !!!!

A friend of mine and I had a discusssion on decision making . In her honest opinion, I stink at it. I would agree with her not based on the success rate of my decision making, but that I do tend to press on it for long. When going through the decision making process I usually award each option its due, thereby giving the appearance of a perennial activity. But today's discussion about a certain decision I need to make in my life, got me all excited and forced me to drop everything and ponder over this.
Decision theory appears to be a well researched area. I have not read a single article/book on decision theory. I like taking a stab at something of which I only have an intuitive feel.

What follows is my theory about the same. I think the first step of taking a decision is identifying what is desired and what is the worst consequence of not consciously measuring the decision towards realising the desired outcome. Once that is figured out, the cost of decision making can be justified.

I suppose the next step would be the enumeration of tuples of current options and their expected outcome in the context of the desirable. This would include the default null set of dropping the desire itself. The default null set will be a part of the enumeration of all options in every decision making exercise. Hence, a person always has an option. Outcomes are only probability expressions and should not be detailed at this stage, lest the human mind starts making unconscious assumptions about various parameters which are yet to be defined. Any tuple that is not in the context of the desirable has to be discarded right now. Expected outcomes are different from desirable outcomes; in other words, expected outcomes can be negative courses as well.

The next step is to identify parameters affecting the course of action and any decision that will be made. Once the parameters are listed, the next step is to categorise them into: Immediate and Unavoidable, Immediate but Avoidable, Historic and insurmountable, Historic but surmountable, Impending, Expected but Avoidable, Conditional (i.e. will come into force only along certain courses of action).

The next step is to create meta-categorisation of parameters, which, in essence, helps us understand which parameters affect each of the tuples that we have enumerated. This categorisation is at a meta-level as it is not a real categorisation of the parameters themselves in their native form but in the context of the identified tuples. One cannot and does not assume that all parameters and all tuples have been identified before this stage. This stage facilitates identifying any new parameters/tuples and in clearly understanding the relationship between them.

The next step is in attaching lucre and probability to the categories and courses of action. Lucre is the weight attached to each expected outcome, taking into consideration the cost of functioning on the associated parameters in the context of achieving the desirable. Probability is the value assigned to each tuple which takes into account the amount of certainty in adopting a particular option and the likelihood of the associated outcome being realised while the parameters are being provided in their required substance (quality and quantity). Not always will the probability be available and needs to be statistically obtained or guessed in order to define uncertain paths. Often, when the probability is not available, it might be wise to chart the course of action (described later) assuming the best and worst case probability and guesstimating a probable mean. Depending on the worst consequences of not making a conscious measurement towards the decision (as mentioned at the outset), uncertain paths can either be dropped or considered on the side while adopting a more certain path.

Now the decision-maker has the required variables in reducing the decision making equation to provide maximum benefit to the stakeholder (who could well be the decision-maker). Resolution of the equations provide the courses of actions available to the stakeholder and a plan/strategy can be drawn based on them.(Hehe playing with what i learned in my course operation research .) A second iteration, on the courses of action can be run based on the strategic input in enhancing the nature of the tuples defined as well as the substance of the parameters involved. The two iterations will be separated by a phase of discussion and consulting with the stakeholder and associated ppl.

I will not get into how the equations can be reduced and resolved right now.

What say? :-)

Silver Surfer ..................................

Wanted a break Saw the Silver Surfer 2 . It was awesome. I just enjoy watching the Welsh actor that plays the main character, Ioan Gruffudd. He plays the brilliant Reed Richards, and is engaged to Sue Storm in the beginning of this movie. The character development for him is again about the dual roles he has to play. He has both a sensitive side (and tries to make all the right moves when it comes to his sweetheart (Sue's a lucky gal)), who also has a Super-nerdy side as a brave scientist-superhero good-guy (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic). He also shows some terrific awkward but cool dance moves, but he can dance! Is it me, or does his shy side make him even more handsome [cue Diana King's "Shy Guy" lyrics]? I enjoyed reminding myself of the swashbuckling, principled but mischievous character he played as Horatio Hornblower. I have trouble deciding what makes Gruffudd's characters so cool:
1.he's handsome slim, tall, and built (but shows humbleness)
2.he's got brains and he's not afraid to use it, particularly when it comes to saving the day
3.his chivalrous and witty attitude, funny even when the going gets tough
4.cool costumes and toys! Swashbuckling or superhero? everyone loves a guy with a cool ride, whether its a futuristic spaceship or a beautiful wooden boat
I think its the humor and good nature of his roles. he reminds me of my own Mr. Fantastic, so handsome, witty and kind!

So, this is quite a long post, and I've rambled too long about the leading man. 'N'eWay, I thought the movie was awesome mainly because of Mr. Fantastic, but I also liked the other characters and enjoyed watching it. The plot itself is pretty standard, but nicely acted out. The special effects were very nice, particularly the costumes (the way Johnny Storm flames up, Silver Surfer's shine, Ben Grimm's stony-physique, Sue's invisible woman). [Michael Chiklis did very well as Ben Grimm, and I enjoyed his humorous zingers, so different from his role as Vic Mackey in The Shield.] Maybe one reason I liked it sooooo much was because I expected one of those comic book hero films where the lead character is shaped by revenge and is lonely all the time. Instead, the movie was cute and romantic, even though I didn't expect that. It also reminded me some of the Incredibles. ...

In the movie Sue Storm's wonderings about a normal life are things BITS graduates think about too... I thought the movie gave me some nice perspective in that area because at BITS life is hectic and we work so much that I often wonder what a normal life would be like. but then the way it ended made me realize that I wouldn't trade what I have right now for the world, 3AM nights, hostel rooms, too much too do, too much to think about... wonderful!

End......

I do not think a single student would ever say, “Oh, man! The semester’s ending!”
It’s more like a mad dash till the end, and then one long sigh. Okay so we have about....20 days of cdc semester left woo hoo!.The begininng of this semester started out easy and then ended up crazy and hectic! I was up all weekened writing code, doing reports and taking vivas ,i barely slept, it was insane.Thankfully last night was my last late night! Annoying. I cant wait for this semester to end.
Too many assignments ,reports , and vivas please just end!!!!!!I think professors gang up together on us to bombard us with tons of work.
However these assignments fetched busy yet satisfying moments. When all assignments are completed, you'll feel the satisfaction and relief,

Just need to get through these last few days ..........

yet another day !!!

Google my homepage says today is Earth Day. That we created such an occasion is the mark of human declivity. What will we think of next? Breathe In Day? Smile Day?
It makes my insides curl into a fist which rams into my conscience. We are the only fools who burn our very homes in order to progress our lives. We continuously create divisive notions in an attempt to unite people.
Do we need a conscience when we will live but once? An Earth that exist but once in my life need not concern me.....
In the mad rush to become, to live better, to achieve, to acquire, we have cleverly disguised what we desire into what is essential for living. What is the soul of living? Can it be something objective without being selfish (Dear Ms. Rand, it wasunfair that you died without waiting to engage in a debate with me)?
I doubt whether we can change this world. I would love to see a world with no armies (only internal police for managing law and order), a forest maintained for every car produced, a dozen children fed and educated for every man dying for no fault of his, no man dying for no fault of his, waters regaining their purity (and they can do it well if we simply clean up our act and not touch them).
What can happen is realising the gravity of the entire situation (or simply brush it off if you feel that melting glaciers won't reach you in your life time, so why worry?). Can we change ourselves, just our individual beautiful self? Can we first realise the ugliness of what surrounds us? Can we see the ugliness that has taken root within us, in the form of our misunderstanding of the world,I and the relationship between the world and I? Can we realise that the world doesn't need us, but we do? Can we stop giving excuses like:
Why see only the ugly things? See the beauty of technology, science? ? Can we accept responsibility for making our lives beautiful in a way that no one else would find theirs ugly because of our actions? Can we decide to give up control over this world and let the naturalorder prevail? Can we realise that it is only in our hands to make this world beautiful ? Can we realise the need to live consciously, honestly, sincerely and 'simply'?

If we can do this, do we, then, need an Earth Day?

Chatter box ....

If I ever compliment (and I would regard it as one) someone as being a wonderful chatting partner, I am, more often than not, found facing a disgruntled face with a clear question snaking down the forehead and over nose, mouth and chin.....
Me being told since my lkg ,how much can u talk hehe....
I fail to understand why conversation and the ability to engage in one, has lost its virtue :P It has become something we would all like but dislike to be recognised for or made a stellar example of it without other accompanying preferable accolades.

Conversation is an art, and it does get tiring with everyone calling everything an art, but conversation really is. Having scores of friends spread over so many cities, one observation I can make is that people do not enjoy conversation as much as they believe they do.

Conversation allows a sprinkling of small-talk, but can never stand entirely on the struts of such banter. Conversation is intellectual, sympathetic, mutually fulfilling, light and nearly always leaves the person rejuvenated (versus the feeling at the end of a 1 hour lecture). Undoubtedly the two greatest elements of conversation are: memory and a patient ear.

Listening is vital to a conversation. Conversation is not to impress others (oh! please it isn't unless in an epigamic ritual). Today we were just generally discussing about mba and then came the notion of a group-discussion (GD, as one of the rounds of elimination was called) . I find it crude and repulsive to have a bunch of people discuss a matter with the sole basis of oneupmanship. Listening requires patience and a clear realisation (I don't like the word humility) that there is always more to know and learn. And the benefit of shutting up and listening is also the tinkle of several voices to make up a human orchestra. I am culprit to interrupting a speaker (and in some cultures that is rude) but that is usually offset by the next vital need of a conversation.

A sharp memory is essential for a rewarding conversation. Not only does it help in enriching the discussion with information, observations and informed inferences, it also help in maintaining a respectable cohesion. A ruffian conversation, straying in every possible direction, can be stimulating initially but tiring after a breakpoint. A good memory also helps (and this is why my friends often excuse my interrupting) in keeping track of where conversations diverted and the train of thought that led from each fork. To be able to trace a conversation up its meander is very useful.
"Why are we discussing Miss Universe contests, when we were talking about Goa?"

"Well, D went on to talk about fishes,prawns.....when S mentioned squid hunting off the Greek coast out of the blue. I mentioned reading about reading about squid hunting in some Greek book and you asked me whether it was in a Nikos Kazantzakis one. I said no, before G mentioned the Greek eating every kind of seafood. K wanted to know whether they are the largest manufacturers of packaged seafood, when I mentioned that it was mostly the South American, Scandinavian companies and probably South Africa. D jumped in and said that South Africa did nothing but host Miss Universe contests. Then we had to discuss the beauties and S being S had to question the sense behind these contests. Voila!"

It requires great attention and a deliberate operation of continuously linking things up in order to understand where and why conversations changed direction. It helps in reminding a person who tends to pause often and ask "What was I talking about?" or "Why did I mention acrylics?". So, my usual strategy would be to quickly mention something, pertinent to what someone was saying, and then loop back with a "ok! . No one missed anything! :-)

Recently a dear friend of mine and I had this discussion about whether it makes sense to visit art with a scholarly pince-nez or enjoy it in all it before employing the mind to delve deeper into the facets and constructs of the art form instance. Neither of us convinced the other, but the discussion raged for hours over the phone and then over email. That kind of stimulating conversation (although this was more of a dialogue) is essentially lacking in most congregations.
My mom would often ask, "What are you going to get by just talking and talking?" I suppose nothing, but isn't that exactly what I want? ;-)

Lost !!!!

I realize the best part of love is the thinnest slice
And it don't count for much
but I'm not letting go
I believe there's still much to believe in

So lift your eyes if you feel you can
Reach for a star and I'll show you a plan
I figured it out
What I needed was someone to show me

You know you can't fool me
I've been loving you too long
It started so easy
You want to carry on

Lost In Love and I don't know much
Was I thinking aloud
Fell out of touch
But I'm back on my feet
Eager to be what you wanted

So lift your eyes if you feel you can
Reach for a star and I'll show you a plan
I figured it out
What I needed was someone to show me

You know you can't fool me
I've been loving you too long
It started so easy
You want to carry on

You know you can't fool me
I've been loving you too long
It started so easy
You want to carry on

Now I'm lost, lost in love, lost in love, lost in love
Now I'm lost, lost in love, lost in love, lost in love

Lost in love, lost in love, lost in love
Lost in love, lost in love, lost in love

Donno why, but this song was playing and i wrote it all down, naah.. no copy paste from a lyrics site, but typed it all out, may be coz i needed something to do. Just feeling a bit down under today.. not that it has anything to do with anything, Just one of those days, when u suddenly start missing people, places, things... when suddenly all you want to do is get on the top of the highest mountain and stand alone staring at the dark blue . Ok well, lets make it the longest desert for me being in Rajasthan , but then again i would get lost.. and then the lost in love would be replaced by really lost in desert.. A faint attempt at humour, sick joke, shows how sad i am.. Or am I?? yeah, i am... so help me my soul, to rise above......
Happens often ... u r left with nothing but those few memories u had during the phase when u were virtually close with somethings/someone . ...
People come and people go out of our lives, that is what i have been told. That is what i have read, and to a certain extent have come to believe that. But just sometimes the knowledge takes the back seat I guess n u cant help it either ....

God puts you in so many phases of life and emotions, sometimes its a roller coaster ride and sometimes, just a plain simple ride through the country, soft and easy... and the balance between all this is what your inner peace depends on. I wish i was a bit more adaptive to the changes in my life, and learn to acknowledge them as and how they happen...

hmmm.. okies, enuff of soul searching for a while, me getting back to coding hehe bas aaj ka din hai free kal se fir me on code spree :P .... Oh dear!! am so very hungry i could eat the universe, but then ..... what would i do without one?? ok idea cancel.. me going to nescafe .. so cya laterzz.. in a happy mood....

Ankur: arey they are called the redlines remember :)
1:14 PM know wat the frantic pace of the redline world will instill in you a sense of panic and urgency

me: hmm may be its the impossibility of actualizing these plans which's agonizing

1:15 PM Ankur:M Garg i know your mind will continue to pour over every detail
as it seeks to anticipate every possible outcome and construct the perfect solution so tats agonizing ..

me: yeah but then it’s easy to convince yourself that the dream is there for the taking

Ankur:But understand that there are many factors you cannot control.....
:)
1:16 PM me: timing being one .

Ankur: hmm and luck being the second :)

1:17 PM me:and i know u r typin "
don’t miss the life you have in the search for the one you think
you want "
Ankur: :)
1:18 PM life is what happens while you are busy making other plans isn't it
me: but then never keep to the present..v… anticipate the future as if we found it too slow in coming
and were trying to hurry it up
:P
Ankur: i remember these famous lines

Ankur:acha through with ur symbol table stuff ?
1:23 PM me: hmm kinda ,lets leave acads apart naa...
Ankur: hehe acha ..what do u think of programmers ?
me: umm programmer is highly malleable .. smtyms it’s an algorithm you need
to develop, maybe it’s a tricky architecture problem, maybe it’s data that needs
to be modeled...
1:24 PM u can re-implementu can optimize
u can run the compile-test-debug cycle ad infinitum make a change, see a result ..
life is not like this.
Ankur: hehe
me: every action you take is followed by a commit and the transaction cannot be rolled back...
Ankur: u can continue to make changes and optimizations as u move forward but the effects
of these will not be immediately apparent
1:25 PM me: hehe the instant feedback of development is sorely lacking in real life
Ankur: hmm
me: know wat this is the frst tym i thot as a programmer's perspective
1:26 PM
Ankur: probably when i was at ur stage i too thot it likewise :)
me:hmm but me not gr8 programmer like u :)
1:27 PM Ankur: arey me not a gr8 programmer ,it calls for so much perfection
me: haan haan tats heights of modesty

The Holi Bash!!!!!

Hey guys, its holi again. Although I am not avid holi fan, but I strongly feel it’s a unique festival. There is no such festival like holi where you get up early only to get dirty, soiled and drenched. And there you are, elated with mischievous smile, eyeing for the target to splash the colors of fun and frolic. It is the only festival where you try to be in your worst old clothes. All in all, it’s an amazing festival.
COLORS!!! Given a split second to think of the first thing that comes to your mind when mentioned this word, what would you think of? Joy, Happiness, Life. Feels like someone just whispered those magic words in your ears and then rolled the magic wand over your head to take you back to those days of childhood. Absolutely fearless, carefree, enthusiastic you go back those days when blood used to rush through your veins. This is exactly how it feels like celebrating this festival of colors. This date March 22nd - 08 was my last and the first time celebrating such enthued Holi as a Bitsian .

So all the fun began one night before the actual celebration when we had a Holi wing meet with the wildest of plans being made for holi bash .(well my wing tagged as the ghotu wing but then when it comes to fun then too nobody can beat us :D ). So we were all ready to celebrate the festival of colors. Gosh!! I am still wearing them on my hands. Somehow all challenges posed by the soap companies have failed now :D. Well we had a long session of fun where all of us in the hostel came on the ground to played holi together and then we turned on the music and danced on n on . If you are thinking of a simple holi with only Gulal then Nooooo!! there were colors ,sprays, mud, dry leaves and yeah there were EGGS (was yukk made me vomit n wash my hair nearly 6 times ), .After all “GIRLS will be GIRLS” ;)and they are the best when they are like that. So everyone was dumped one by one under the water tap ,then we went out for the campus tour singing n dancing all the way :D aaj mein upar aasman neeche n yeah ruk ruk ruk oh my darlin give me a luk was the song specially sung by us dedicated to karthika :D.After that there was mad angles session at cnot :D .This was followed by snap session to freeze the moments :) and then their were some plans cooking up while karthika went to get the cam ...Yes it was Karthika's Tshirt tearing session ;) followed by fash p and dance session :D .Aah it's still paining in my back .After all the fun and frolic in the ground we came back to our room and slept like log . Well these are some of the days that we do not forget throughout our lives and the best is to make the most of them. It was again one of my most happiest moments in Bits . These are some of the precious moments which always would make you smile no matter where you are, where you go or what you do.
